Wedding Wine

Congratulations!

Congratulations on your engagement! I remember being engaged, all the excitement, and newness, and the lists and lists of the “Big Day to-do’s”! Sit back and relax, we’ll take on the wedding wine for you! Below are answers to some of the FAQ’s surrounding wedding wine.

When Should I start?

Wine LOVES to age in the bottle before being shown off to all your friends and family. Best practice is to bottle your wine 6-12 months prior to the big day. Our wines go from kit to bottle in 6 to 8 weeks.

HELP! I’m getting married soon, can I still make wine?

Yes! Ask us about our wine varieties that will be ready to drink within 6 weeks.

What kind of wine should we make?

Our experienced staff can help you navigate the world of wine, and choose wines that will please your palate and wow your guests!

Things to consider:

What kind of wine do you drink? Is there a particular variety that you gravitate towards? Cabernet Sauvignon? Merlot? Or a blend?

Do you prefer a dry wine, or off dry?

Or is there a particular brand that is your go-to, we can help steer you in a similar direction.

Popular Reds: Cru Select Cabernet Sauvignon or Cabernet Malbec Carmenere.

Popular Whites: Cru Select Sauvignon Blanc or Viognier Pinot Gris.

How much wine do I need?

The amount of wine needed will depend on the size of your wedding. Follow these steps to estimate your needs:

1. Calculate how many people will be drinking at the event.

2. Multiply this number by four (to give you the maximum number of standard drinks per person you will need).

3. Divide number of standard drinks by five per bottle

4. Divide number of bottles by 30 to determine the number of batches and then round up.

For example:

1. 100 wine drinking guests attending

2. 100 x 4 standard drinks = 400. 400/5 (5 glasses per 750ml bottle) = 80 bottles of wine

4. 28/30 750ml bottles per kit = 2.67 or 3 batches of wine will be needed.

Having a little bit extra is never a bad thing! Leftover, un-opened bottles can be put away and stored for all the “First’s”. Christmas, Anniversaries, Valentine’s, date nights, the first fight, or other special events together.
