The Darb – Argentina Bonarda Syrah

Toast to the perfection of The Darb’s magnificent character, style and substance when you share the finery of this 2020 vintage. Subtle tannins and rich sophistication mingle throughout this gently layered Bonarda Syrah, truly marking it as the perfect blend.

  • Argentina – 5th largest wine producer globally
  • Blend of a known variety (Syrah) and something new to RQ program (distinguished or up and coming for excitement)
  • Bonarda
    • Medium bodied, “juicy”, refreshing, bright red berry fruit character
    • Grown in Argentina – 2 nd only to Malbec, actually “Douce Noir” and distinct from versions in Italy and California (Charbono)
    • Brings freshness, red fruit aromas, colour and refreshing acidity to the blend
  • Syrah
    • Brings black fruit and spice aromas as well as body to the blend

Plump red plum and blueberry underlined with smoky notes on the palate.

The Caterpillar’s Kimono – Spanish Macabeo

    • Traditional in Rioja DOa white blends (Viura)

The Big Shot – Chile Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot

Hit all the high notes with this top shelf varietal. The Big Shot is the one to please any crowd and thrill every audience. Get carried away by the sultry allure and deep rich tones of ruby red with this jazzed RQ 2020 vintage—the big shot in our quintet of all-star varietals.

  • An ode to the tradition of blending
  • Classic Bordeaux/Meritage blend – structured (acid, tannin) for excellent food pairing yet fruity enough for sipping
  • Chilean sourcing suggests a fruit forward style
  • Robust red with some complexity

Ripe blackcurrant and blackberry complemented by herbaceous, tobacco and spice.

  • Unique blend of two well known varieties – better together!
  • Combination is popular in Australia at the moment – the duo is making a comeback
  • Pinot Noir
    • Refreshing acidity, red fruit – cherry, cranberry, red currant, floral – violets, savoury/vegetal and ‘animal’
    • Elegant, silky tannins
  • Aussie Shiraz
    • Full bodied, ripe style with higher tannin and deeper colour
  • Combination makes a full bodied, ripe style with some vibrant, fresh character and more approachable, earlier drinking tannins

Juicy red and dark fruits on the nose and palate with a hint of spice on the finish.

  • Garnacha
    • basis for well known rose from Navara DO (Spain)
    • Grenache (France) – Tavel and Cotes de Provence ACs
    • Late ripening, suits warmer climates
    • Popular style – Pale pink, red fruit, moderate acid
    • Aromas and flavours of strawberry and raspberry

Sun ripened red berries, rhubarb, and a floral hint of rose.
